University of Windsor—Toldo Medical Education Building

Situated on the University of Windsor campus, the Toldo Medical Education Building is a new three storey development which connects to an existing academic building.  The main purpose of this new construction was to house the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry on the ground and second floors.  The 5,675 square-metre structure was completed in October 2008 and achieved LEED Canada-NC Silver.  Factors contributing to the LEED certification include a high performance building envelope, natural ventilation, low-emitting building materials, living wall filtration, and a rainwater cistern system for washroom use and landscape irrigation.  A TAES Architect principal was involved in this project while employed at a different firm.
