Situated in the heart of the Banff Centre in Alberta, the Kinnear Centre for Creativity and Innovation was completed in July 2011.  This educational building encompasses 8,175 square-metres of sustainable learning and meeting space surrounded by views of the breathtaking Banff wilderness.  Located on the west side of the building are multipurpose classrooms and a dance studio along with outdoor terraces and a new outdoor amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 1600.  The extensive media and arts focused library is at the south end of the building, featuring seating areas with expansive views of the mountains.  One hundred percent of regularly occupied spaces have access to the scenic views surrounding the area.

With contribution from a TAES Architect principal, the Kinnear Centre was designed to meet high environmental standards resulting in a LEED Gold certification.  Notable sustainable elements of the design include orientation specific solar shading, an integrated control system for lighting, daylight and shading, natural ventilation and environmentally effective stormwater management strategies.
